I love Spring but it’s killing me. Eyes are itchy and stingy as though a nest of bees have decided to make it their home there. I’m coughing, sneezing, and blowing my nose so much that those activities have become a cardio workout—I can feel my core and the burn. What I really don’t like is waking up in the middle of the night, coughing like crazy, and gasping for air as though I’m drowning in a pool of my own mucous. Although I keep telling myself that it’s just coughing due to post-nasal drip, I realize that it’s probably asthma.
I’ve been taking my antihistamines but with minimal success. I know if I go to my doctor, she’ll probably tell me to use an inhaler or two as well as do a nasal decongestant spray and/or saline wash. Between you and me, I’m tired of prescriptions and OTC drugs—all reactive to my condition and not lasting long enough, or worse yet, having to deal their side effects—dry mouth, weight gain, bloody noses, among others. So what do I do?
The last time I had been enduring a chest-rattling cough for nearly three months. I decided to go the unconventional route—energy medicine. Within 24 hours, my symptoms disappeared and I was breathing normally again. I think it’s time to make an appointment with Devi Stern again.
I first went to Devi two years ago. My friend, Ellen, had given me a gift certificate for my birthday. I didn’t know what to expect. But I was intrigued especially with the muscle/energy testing that Devi did to determine where I was blocked and where my energies weren’t flowing in the right direction. After a session, I felt very relaxed and calm—like I had woken up from a much needed rest. Most importantly, my cough went away, and for that I was most grateful.
What’s great about energy medicine is that you can do some of the exercises on yourself—such as rev up your lymphatic system, help clear your mind/calm your spirit, as well as re-energize yourself. I’ve actually used a few of the exercises I learned on the Princess who was going through some kind of upper respiratory infection. It seemed to help get her better more quickly.
Unfortunately, I’m not quite there to fully help myself on my own. Lots to learn—could be one of my next projects.
